You might have heard that at Crime Victim Care of Allen County, we have welcomed the arrival of Irene Paxia as our new Executive Director. Irene started in March of this year and brings the talent and expertise needed to advance our commitment to serving the needs of immigrant and refugee families in the Fort Wayne community.
“I am so pleased to be part of the CVC team, and look forward to working with our staff, contractors, volunteers, and community to continue to provide the personalized support we are known for and further our vision of creating a community where immigrants and refugees are active contributors.” Irene Paxia
Paxia comes to CVC with more than 14 years of progressive not for profit leadership experience. Most recently, she served as Community Development Specialist at City of Fort Wayne and Program Director at American Red Cross. She also is a founding member of the Multicultural Council of Greater Fort Wayne and the Language Services Network and worked at IPFW as Italian language lecturer for several years.
A native of Venice, Italy, Irene speaks four languages fluently and has experienced firsthand (as she puts it) “the excitement, challenges, laughs, and tears typical of international relocation”. Her parents and siblings live in Italy and Shanghai, China.
Paxia graduated from IPFW with a Master of Business Administration degree, and from the University of Bologna (Italy) with a Laurea (Master of Studies) in International Diplomatic Studies. She has received numerous awards including 40 Under 40, Health Care Hero (MIX Program), 101 Connectors, National Red Cross Gem of the Month (MIX Program), and YWCA Hope Award (Multicultural Council Public Safety).
